Questions about your treatment

  • Why is it not permanent?
Hyaluronic Acid based dermal fillers are not permanent because our bodies naturally and gradually break it down over time. This is due to our faces changing shape and structure over time.
  • How long will fillers last?
Normally dermal fillers last 9-18 months depending on the area being treated. Factors that contribute to dermal filler being broken down include the quality of the dermal filler brand that is being used (FDA approved products), how much dermal filler was used, the density of the dermal filler which is dependent on the area being treated, and individual factors such as sun exposure, facial expression, genetics, medical history, smoking status, weight, diet, and exercise.
  • Why would I want dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers rejuvenate and restore volume loss that naturally occurs as we age. It reduces lines and wrinkles and creates a fuller, more youthful appearance by enhancing your features.
  • Does it hurt?
Mild pain and discomfort may be experienced during the procedure. However, our Aesthetics Nurse will assess this and, if required, apply a topical numbing agent to reduce any pain and discomfort. The dermal fillers that we use are of the highest quality and also contain lidocaine, a numbing agent which is also very effective in reducing pain or discomfort during treatment.
  • How long do dermal filler treatments take?
Treatment itself can take 30-45 minutes depending on the number of areas being treated, but normally 30 minutes. We book all our patients in for longer appointments to allow for an in-depth consultation and time for questions to be asked and answered. This ensures all our patients are fully informed about all our treatments.
  • What if I find it cheaper?
We understand people can be drawn to lower, 'cheaper' prices and we encourage you to do what is best for your individual needs. Take the time to research and understand why these prices are cheaper to help make an informed decision. We urge you to seek a practitioner who is an experienced medical professional to ensure you are in safe hands if a complication were to occur. Check what products are being used, if they are fully insured to be carrying out these treatments, and what qualifications they have. These treatments are for the face/body, which is why aiming for high quality and safety is vital.
  • How often do you need treatment?
Marionette Lines lasts 6-12 months. Factors that impact this is lifestyle (smoking, exercise, diet, stress, sun exposure etc), age, genetics and medical hx.
